Windsor's Evenings Now Run in Two Shifts, With the Handoff at 8 p.m.

Downtown Windsor still has evenings after the summer concerts end. They have moved indoors, onto the short run of Windsor Road between the SMART station and Town Green Village, and on a typical night they split at 8 p.m. Before 8, you have a cluster of tasting lounges with live music, karaoke and craft nights. After 8, the room most likely to still be going is the newest one, a country-Western saloon in the old brewery across from the train platform.

Many Windsor residents still think of the Thursday Town Green concert as the town's evening out. The Windsor Chamber says the same thing, calling the Town Green "central for live music on Thursdays in the summertime." The Chamber also points out that in the last few years the town's tasting rooms, both on the Town Green and in what it calls the Beverage District, have added weekend live music and movie nights of their own. Two openings this fall added the piece that was missing, which is a place that stays open late.

The first shift ends at 8

Look at the posted hours side by side and the pattern is clear. The wine rooms close early in the week, stay open later on weekends, and almost none of them pour past 8 p.m.

Night Trecini Winery Tasting Notes Bienvenue Spur Saloon

Tuesday until 7 p.m. closed, by appointment not listed until 11 p.m.
Wednesday until 7 p.m. closed, by appointment until 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Saturday until 8 p.m. until 8 p.m. until 8 p.m. until midnight
Sunday until 5 p.m. until 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Tasting Notes posts the busiest evening calendar of the lounges. Its regular hours are Thursday 2 to 6 p.m., Friday 1 to 8 p.m., Saturday noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Its events sometimes run past those hours. On Thursday, Nov. 5, karaoke goes from 6 to 10 p.m., the one night on its November calendar that runs past 8.

Bienvenue keeps its lounge open Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Its 3 to 6 p.m. happy hour takes $3 off glasses. According to the Windsor Chamber, Baldassari Family Wines has live music in its lounge every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and posts the weekly lineup on its own channels.

So a Friday on this stretch can start with happy hour at Bienvenue and move to music at Baldassari at 6. By 8, most of the street is closing up.

The second shift starts across from the train

Eric Foster and Christina Keeney Foster, who opened Grata Italian Eatery in 2020, opened Spur Saloon in August at 9000 Windsor Road. The space was an empty brewery and tasting room just across from the SMART station. Sonoma Magazine reported that the owners wanted a place where locals could "cut a rug past 9 p.m." and that they had spent several years considering concepts for the building before choosing a country-Western saloon.

"People keep saying, 'This is what we needed,'" Foster told Sonoma Magazine. "But the main drive is a place in town that gets people out and having fun."

Spur opens at 4 p.m. every day and closes at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Everyone is welcome until 9 p.m., and after that it is 21 and over. On most nights, it is the only place on this stretch still serving after 8.

The kitchen is small and all-electric, with an oven, a smoker and a few induction burners, so the menu sticks to shareable plates. The Sonoma Magazine review singled out bison sliders at $19, smoked onion dip at $13, an ahi ceviche tostada at $20 and a Frito pie at $12. The house cocktails are $15, and several are on draft for speed. In September, the plan was live music about twice a month, along with line dancing, music bingo, karaoke brunch and happy hour. Dates for those nights are posted on Spur's Instagram, the only listing the saloon publishes.

Why the lounges keep landing on this block

Trecini Winery's tasting room explains why the early shift keeps adding rooms. Kyle and Christina Cameron grow wine grapes and bought the Trecini brand in April 2025. On Sept. 25 they opened a 1,100-square-foot tasting room at 9071 Windsor Road, in the former Bellacana space, with 22 indoor seats and some outdoor seating.

Christina Cameron told The Press Democrat that they chose downtown Windsor partly because tasting rooms were already clustered nearby, naming Tasting Notes, Mutt Lynch, Baldassari and Bienvenue, and partly because most of the family's vineyards are in Windsor. The paper reported that Trecini makes about 10% of its sales directly to consumers, and the tasting room is meant to raise that share.

That reasoning explains the closing times. These rooms exist to pour tastes and sell bottles, so they keep tasting-room hours. The complimentary tastings Trecini offered at its opening were scheduled to run through Nov. 1. The room's regular offer is a daily 3 to 6 p.m. happy hour with wine, charcuterie and desserts. Walk-ins are welcome, and it stays open until 8 on Friday and Saturday. The Windsor Chamber held Trecini's ribbon-cutting on Oct. 17.

Spur covers the hours the wine rooms were never set up for.

The early-shift calendar, November into December

  2. Friday, Nov. 6: Puzzle competition, 6 to 8 p.m.

  13. Saturday, Dec. 26: Jeremy Gorman, 5 to 8 p.m.

Every Saturday set at Tasting Notes ends at 8, the same hour Spur moves into its late stretch. If you want a band followed by a late night, that is how Windsor Road is laid out right now.

Nov. 19, the night the whole block opens at once

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce's Winter Wine Walk is on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m., rain or shine. It runs through the downtown businesses around the Windsor Town Green, with more than 20 wineries and food vendors taking part.

The Chamber caps the walk at 450 tickets. Each ticket includes a logo glass, food and wine tastes, a map of locations, and shopping specials meant for holiday gifts. Tickets went on sale Oct. 22, and part of the proceeds goes to Circuit Rider Community Services, a nonprofit that mentors youth across Sonoma County.

The walk takes the same Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. slot the summer concerts used, but it happens inside the shops and lounges along the Green. It ends at 8, the same hour the tasting rooms close every week. Spur, across from the SMART station, is open until 11 that night.

At Del Fava Parker, we keep track of what opens, moves and stays open late in Windsor, because that is the town our clients actually live in. If you're wondering how the new mix along Windsor Road affects the value of a home near the Town Green, request a home valuation and we'll go through it with you.
